Dog breeding and puppy raising has been part of my life since I was a little boy. When I was just a toddler, my mother knew if I wandered off she could often find me in the kennels sound asleep, curled up with some ol’ hound dog as a pillow.

About 30 years ago, my best friend introduced me to the world of Golden Retrievers, I fell completely in love with these gorgeous dogs and knew it was only a matter of time until I would switch breeds and immerse myself in Golden splendor.

How Redwood Golden Kennels began:

​

From the beginning I had a plan to start with just one super high-quality female which would become the corner stone of my breeding program. After a very lengthy search I finally found Redwood Golden Sadie May. She was a nine week old puppy when we brought her home. Sadie was such a joy to raise and can really be a goofball at times. She was everything I was looking for and much more. She has the most remarkable personality and is loyal and sweet.

She has recently been retired from breeding at five years old and somehow my daughter talked me into letting Sadie stay with her and her husband. Maria is great with dogs and, of course, so is my three year old grand-daughter so I am not concerned about a lack of attention or affection.

All my females are daughters or grand-daughters of Sadie and all show the same high level of quality and class as their momma. And, as they have grown up and some of them have become mommas themselves, they are reproducing those same traits in puppies that are consistently just as adorable and lovely as Sadie.

As a Pastor and Evangelist, I have literally traveled the world preaching, teaching, training ministers and started churches and orphanages. Nearly 40 years ago I met the most wonderful lady in Germany, and she was crazy enough to marry me. Now that I am getting a little older and slower, I have returned to my home area here in Arcata California and planted a church. 

 

Humboldt County is one of the most beautiful places on earth with so much to do if you love the outdoors. I am a 10-minute walk to the Pacific Ocean and a 10-minute drive to the heart of the majestic Redwoods. With all these Golden Retrievers you can only imagine what a trip to the beach or mountains is like.
